Melanie Jones

Melanie Jones, MA, LPC, ACCHT

Melanie (Griffis) Jones is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a Master’s Degree from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. She has worked in this field for over 12 years. While Jones has tremendous success with all emotional and stress related issues, she is recognized as one of the prominent therapists specializing in gender identity issues for those who identify as cross-dressers, transgendered individuals and their families.

Melanie started her experience in the mental health field in 1991, when she was recruited as Administrator for The Focusing Institute when it was based in downtown Chicago. Focusing is a mind/body technique used within the mental health field and by clergy to help individuals work on specific situations in a safe and gentle way.  During her three years there, she became a certified trainer and taught weekend and week-long workshops in the Midwest and in California.   She was told she had natural skills working within this client-centered, mind/body field and that was what prompted her to go back to school  for her master’s degree and license.

In 2009, Jones took a six-day intensive training at the Wellness Institute in Issaquah, WA  which introduces the powerful healing possible when hypnotherapy  is integrated into the counseling program. Since then, she has continued her training by completing a two year internship in hypnotherapy, and years of additional leadership education in this field.  Currently her credentials are as an “Advanced Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, recognized by the American Association of Professional Hypnotherapist.

In 2011, she trained with England’s Sheila Granger in the “Gastric Bypass Surgical Hypnotherapy” and is now one of the few American hypnotherapists offering this program in the Chicago area.

Using both psychotherapy and hypnotherapy she works with all mental and emotional issues, stress management, anxiety, depression, gender issues along with weight reduction, smoking cessation and sports enhancement.

She sees clients in both Tinely Park and Frankfort, IL with evening and weekend hours available.  For an appointment or to learn more; contact her at 708-305-3680r, or email at [email protected] or through this web site’s contact form.
